Take a full walk around the farm and visit groups of pigs, sheep and cattle. Get a brief overview of what each groups purpose is and see how all the animals live. This tour gives you a chance to ask all your burning questions!
Pine Crest Farms main livestock rotation consists of pigs, cattle and sheep. The livestock are grazed on grassland and fed in conjunction with the various crops rotated around the farms. These crops consist of sorghum, red & white clover, oats & peas, and hay & pasture mixes. We continuously move our livestock so we are not over-grazing the land.
We have fun and exciting interactive experiences for all ages and in all seasons! Some examples include Lamb Bottle-feeding, Farmer for a Morning, and Forest Therapy. Check out our Tours & Events to find out what is open for booking now!
Our way of farming increases the earth's soil health. With a carefully mapped-out rotation of our animals and crops we are naturally fertilizing our soils. This restores a healthy and enriched soil to grow our crops and grass lands for grazing.
When the soils are enriched and healthy, you will see an improvement in water absorption (i.e., an increase in the soil's ability to hold water). In return, water absorption means that fewer nutrients are washed away from the soil. At the same time, we are pulling carbon from the atmosphere and bringing it into our soils. Wetlands and forests are well-known as effective carbon storage sites, but meadows and fields play a role too!
Throughout the year, we offer different drop-in activities like hand-feeding Nigerian dwarf goats, and meet-and-greet with our friendly bottle-fed lambs! Drop-in activities are subject to staff availability and we recommend calling ahead to the Farm Shop.
We believe that hands-on experience is one of the very best ways to learn. We are happy to work with educators to develop programs on themes such as raising livestock, soil health, and regenerative agriculture. Pine Crest Farms has also 150 acres of natural cover, and so is perfect for learning about the wonders of the natural world!
Our location and landscape make us uniquely well-suited to hosting your next special event! Amenities on-site include a picnic area, playground, mini zoo and washroom.
Looking for ideas? We can help! Consider adding in a Farm tour, Nature Tour, Workshop or Interactive Farm Experience. Please bring your own food, and be aware that pets are not allowed on the farm.
The Butcher Shop carries fresh cuts all of our pork, beef, lamb, and chicken. You will also find Pine Crest Farms high-welfare eggs, fresh Ontario vegetables, and sustainably sourced fish, plus sauces and spice mixes by local producers!
Pine Crest Farms believe in maximizing the use of our pastures and forage crops, which allows the animals to subsist predominantly on the plants and crops they are meant to consume.
We rotate the animals over our 1200 acres of pastures, while our farm naturally replenishes itself through a seven-year farm cycle.
